Registered Veterinary Technicians (RVTs) & Veterinary Assistants

Two important roles supporting compassionate, high-quality emergency and critical care at EPIC Vets.

Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT)

RVTs deliver skilled veterinary nursing care, carry out treatments under veterinarian direction, and help guide our clinical support team.

Key Responsibilities

Triage emergency patients, collect vital signs, and perform procedures within California RVT scope under veterinarian direction.
Collect and process lab samples, calculate medication dosages accurately, and operate medical equipment.
Prepare patients and surgical suites, assist with procedures, and follow surgical safety protocols.
Communicate with clients and referring teams; assist with estimates and payments as needed.
Support staff training, teamwork, safe practices, and current clinical techniques.

Qualifications

Current California RVT license required, along with prior veterinary experience.
Emergency experience preferred; motivated to develop advanced emergency skills.
Strong clinical judgment, dosage math, communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
Reliable, adaptable, professional, and comfortable with changing priorities.

Veterinary Assistant

Assistants support patient care and hospital operations. Duties may range from basic animal care and kennel support to more advanced clinical assistance, depending on training and experience.

Key Responsibilities

Feed, handle, restrain, and provide hygiene care for hospitalized patients.
Maintain clean cages, treatment areas, laundry, and equipment.
Assist the medical team with recordkeeping and patient safety.
When appropriately trained, assist with triage, nursing care, laboratory samples, supervised radiographs, anesthesia basics, and surgery preparation.

Qualifications

Compassionate, dependable, organized, and eager to learn.
For advanced clinical assistant duties: high school diploma or GED and 1–2 years of veterinary experience; emergency experience preferred.
Strong teamwork, communication, and safe animal-handling skills.

Requirements for Both Roles

Availability for a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
Ability to work in a fast-paced setting, remain on your feet, bend and move throughout shifts, and lift or carry up to 50 lbs.
Commitment to compassionate client service, teamwork, and workplace safety.
Comfort with normal veterinary occupational exposures, including noise, animal waste, medical materials, and potential bites or scratches.

Client Service Representatives & Financial Coordinators

Help pets and their families navigate emergency visits with compassion, clarity, and exceptional service.

Client Service Representative (CSR)

CSRs are the first and last point of contact for many EPIC clients, creating a welcoming, organized, and supportive experience throughout their visit.

Key Responsibilities

Welcome clients, coordinate check-in and discharge, and monitor front-desk flow and wait-time communication.
Answer and appropriately triage calls, recognize urgent concerns, and respond compassionately to distressed clients.
Maintain accurate patient records, handle records requests, follow-up communications, and correspondence.
Review invoices, process payments, reconcile transactions, and support front-office organization and cleanliness.
Communicate effectively with doctors, technicians, management, and referring practices.

Qualifications

High school diploma or GED and at least one year of customer service experience; veterinary practice experience preferred.
Excellent communication, empathy, confidentiality, attention to detail, and basic computer and math skills.
Ability to stay organized, calm, and courteous as priorities change.

Financial Coordinator

Financial Coordinators guide clients through treatment estimates, invoices, and payment decisions with sensitivity during unexpected veterinary emergencies.

Key Responsibilities

Prepare veterinarian-directed treatment estimates and invoices and explain costs and changes in recommended care.
Collect deposits and payments and help clients understand available third-party financing options.
Coordinate patient admissions, discharges, and transfers while keeping clients and care teams informed.
Maintain accurate records, manage communication and record requests, and assist CSR teammates as needed.
Provide compassionate service to clients facing stressful or emotional circumstances.

Qualifications

High school diploma or GED and at least one year of customer service experience; veterinary practice experience preferred.
Familiarity with basic veterinary terminology, common treatments, and patient services.
Strong numerical accuracy, discretion, problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills.

Requirements for Both Roles

Availability for flexible scheduling, including weekends and holidays.
Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced emergency hospital while maintaining client confidentiality and professionalism.
Comfort using computers, email, and practice-management systems; basic math and accurate written documentation.
Ability to sit or stand for extended periods, move throughout the workday, bend and reach, and lift or carry up to 40 lbs.
Commitment to teamwork, hospital safety practices, and thoughtful communication with pet owners.
